What an amazing weekend we had! Friday was our 3rd dating anniversary, I can’t believe it, well actually I can because we are engaged. What I can’t believe is that how much FUN it’s been the past 3 years, even with wedding planning CA makes everything FUN. Friday night was no different, he had beautiful tall roses delivered to my job, and he picked me up at 6:15. We headed to our favorite sushi place, which is where he took me on our first date. It was perfect, we know the chef, waitresses, and love the food.
It was a great time, we chatted with everyone we knew, enjoyed the food, talked about everything, my blogging goals, work and everything else. We grabbed ice cream on our way home, for some good dessert and went to bed shortly after.
Saturday-
I woke up early to get in a run before we started day 1 of Pre Cana, came home showered and got ready. We arrived a half hour early and started to talk to the one couple that was there when we were, they were also in our group. In Pre Cana, there was 24 couples, 4 groups, made up of 6 couples. Each group had a couple that were our group leaders, group 1’s (my group) leaders were AWESOME! They were so real, and transparent even though they were holder and have been through more things you could still see where they were coming from.
We had talks in a large group from couples about different topics, than talked about the topics in the smaller groups. What we thought, our experiences, and anything else that came to mind. We had breaks for lunch, and awesome group 1 (we named ourselves), talked at the table the boys talking about fantasy football (some of the girls too), and the girls were talking about dresses and wedding planning.
Around 3pm, we had the last talk of the day with Deacon Frank, and it was a serious heart to heart and it sticks with you. After we left CA and I went to Bubba’s Burrito Bar the next town over because… I wanted a burrito. We went home ate dinner and just relaxed. We wanted to go to NYC to see the tree but we just couldn’t do it, I was too exhausted and it wouldn’t be as enjoyable.
Sunday-
I was up early to run again, got ready for 8 am mass, since we were going to have a special prayer for all the couples in the engaged couples. We got there early, found our seats and settled in waiting for mass to start. Deacon Frank and Father Tom had a special prayer for all of us couples and it was really heart warming, the entire church clapped for us as well.
After mass we went to the small hall to have some breakfast before finishing up our last 2 topics and “graduating” from Pre Cana. The last 2 topics flowed easily, 1 couple CA knew from working with the wife when he was a student teacher. The girls in the group all got together, exchanged our numbers and started a group text! We already planned a get together so we could stay in touch.
After Pre Cana, I decorated my house, my mum was assisting, her knee is really bad so she’s not able to do half with me. It was easily done, and we even got to decorate our side door with lights which is always fun. I made Pork Chops for dinner with mashed potatoes, corn and broccoli, it was delicious. CA and I watched the end of the MLS Audi Cup, thankfully the Portland Timbers won, and than we just watched some football.
It was really a great weekend, at Pre Cana we weren’t allowed to have our phones out, because they wanted us to actually talk with the other couples at the table not have 8 people staring at their phones. The only times we had our phones out was to show pictures of our dogs, and during the fantasy football talk, so we could talk about our teams. It was a great unplugged weekend to just TALK to couples without staring at your phone. The girls were all SUPER nice, CA and the boys talked sports which is always an easy topic for guys. I am so glad we got paired together, and were able to create new friendships out of something we are all going through together.
Hope everyone had a great weekend, and have a fantastic week!
