No no… not the movie, MY Proposal 😉 {there are pictures at the end… of the proposal}
Well on Monday I all let y’all in on my amazing weekend and the BIG news that le boyfriend who is now named Le Fiancé (as HE wants to be called) or CA. Anyways, I did say I would tell you all exactly what happened and how he surprised me BIG with his proposal.
Lets back track a bit, this Greenport trip was planned for a while, it isn’t close to our homes so we wanted to make a trip to the brewery a weekend get away. This was BEFORE we even had a ring, fast forward to February when we GOT the ring. Le fiancé (I don’t think this will stick…) informed me that I would “have” the ring by Christmas 2014, and that he WOULD be able to surprise me.
Fast forwarding to March/April (maybe), when he got the idea to propose to me whilst in Greenport LI, and than have a surprise get together for our families and some friends. He knew after returning home we’d want to see everyone, and tell everyone about our weekend; so who would we see first?! He squashed that problem real quick, he set up a surprise… HEY! You’re engaged party, with us arriving at his house with everyone awaiting our arrival.
The Engagement Weekend-
Friday 5/16- We arrived at Greenport, checked into our hotel and headed into the quaint little town for some amazing sushi. After our delish and filling dinner we headed back to our hotel unpacked a bit more and promptly passed out. Yeah… we are living the life… it’s okay to say it, he’s old and I was just exhausted.
Saturday 5/17- P-Day (Proposal Day.. yes? no?)
We both woke up on the earlier side because we went to bed so early, so we decided to both run separately and than come back and get ready for the day. I ran first than while he was running… he planned the completing part of his perfect proposal. When he walked out of our hotel door he saw women from next door heading out to run also. He quickly (and quietly) asked if they would meet us down by the hotels private beach at 7 p.m. to take pictures of him proposing to me. They said yes, and he went to go off on his run.
Our day went on as normal, we headed to Shelter Island taking pictures together at different various spots. Which is a normal thing for us, we love to take pictures together and Saturday was no different. CA was a little more quiet than normal but he said he was OK so I of course believed him.
After breakfast at Shelter Island, we walked around town picking up knickknacks for us, and our moms. We returned back to the hotel, took a nap and woke up around 1:30 and headed off for our drinking adventures I mean winery & brewery tastings. We went to Kontokosta Winery first, had a great tasting picked up a bottle each snapped a picture and went down to the Greeport Brewery. Where we got our free beer tasting, I’ll admit as a non beer drinker there were some nice beers! The girl who helped us was super nice, and CA picked up a nice sweatshirt!
We headed back into town for a complimentary tasting, and I picked up another wine bottle. WHILE I was in the wine tasting in town, CA went into the restaurant we were going to have dinner at and informed them of his plans, and asked to have a glass of wine brought to the table when we sat down. He found on the wine list my FAV wine from the winery we just went to that day. He joined me, and we headed back to the hotel, I took another nap, and woke up around 6ish and I started getting ready for our pictures down at the beach.
“We” (and I mean CA) had planned ahead to take pictures at sunset and have beautiful pictures (which we did). CA went down to the beach to check if the women were there, they were and he gave them a thumbs up that we would be heading down soon (<~ he did that ALL without me knowing). We left the room but “forgot” his phone… he actually had to get the ring without me knowing about it. Headed down and “found” the 4 women hanging out drinking some wine, and kindly asked them if they’d take our picture.
The woman Kim said she would and we went down on the sand, took a couple pictures but since it was dark we moved toward “filtered light” (CAs term not mine), and took a few more pictures. CA went back to check to see how the pictures came out, this is where I couldn’t figure out WHY he kept checking, he NEVER does that. He came back to me… and faced me.. and all I thought was WTH are you DOING?!?
He proceeded to get down on one knee and started with Renee Lynn… and added in a few laughs… that I’ll never be bored, he’ll never be a Yankees fan, and he finally asked… Will You Marry Me? I of course shook my head yes and said yes as loudly as a blubbering girl could.
We chatted with the women for a bit and than went back to our room to begin calling everyone, most of which where awaiting for the phone call saying we were ENGAGED!
Picture Time Line-
This was the last one before he “checked” them
This is the one where I am wondering what is he doiiiiiiiiiiing?
And here we goo….
