This post I actually thought about NOT writing, about not posting, and not
putting down my most intimate details of my weight loss. Than I thought, but
what if my story inspires someone? What if me showing my ups, downs, failures, setbacks,
and triumphs shows someone that it’s POSSIBLE to lose weight. It’s completely 100%
possible to lose weight without the starving, diet pills, and giving up ALL your favorite foods.

So let’s start at the beginning of this little journey shall we?
In April 2013, the reason that my weight loss journey even started was because
of a visit with my regular doctor. I was very much over weight; my blood
pressure was high, as well as my heart rate, and worst of all? She was going to
take me off my medicine because it hindered my weight loss greatly.

So I sulked a
little a lot, about how much
I weighed, and how much I’d have to lose in order to be healthy. I started out small; I got rid of
soda, junk food and no longer bought fast food. At first it was hard,
because fast food was just that… fast, I didn’t have to cook it and it was
readily available. Which is probably the biggest reason why people do buy fast
food, after a long day at work, who wants to cook? I most certainly didn’t want
to do that!

In addition to correcting my eating habits, I also started to work
out 6 days a week. I reached out to a Beachbody coach who was holding an
accountability group via Facebook. Turbo Fire was a 6 day a week program an in
addition to the program, I started my first week of training for a 5K. It was
hard, making sure I was working out every time I was supposed to, running
according to the schedule. I started to drink Shakeology every morning for breakfast
after I work out and it filled me! It was the first kind of meal replacement
drink that ever has actually filled me up to where I was no longer hungry
within an hour.

Even with spraining my ankle after only 4 weeks of beginning my
new life, by the time summer came I was down over 20 lbs and able to fit into
old jeans! I kept going with running as much as possible, I even ran a few 5Ks
and improved my time gradually. The weight kept coming off and I was down… 60
pounds! SIXTY pounds, from April – October 2013. I felt amazing, I was losing
weight, I had an amazing by my side making sure I stuck to it and didn’t fall
off the horse too hard.

Well, I’m sure you are thinking, well those are all good things;
besides me spraining my ankle. What comes after October? November &
December, which equals holidays and guess who gained 17 pounds? Yup, this girl
writing out all of this gained 17 fraking pounds back from all the work I did.
I was SO pissed off at myself, and that’s all I could be mad at. No one forced
me to eat crappy foods, drink a little too much; I did it to myself. And I
wasn’t working out like I should have been, I just let hey it’s only ONE cookie; oh it’s only ONE night of drinking.

When 2014 came about, I made a new resolution, to get fit not just
for the summer but for LIFE. January 6, I re-started Focus T25 with the Alpha
round and purchased Shakeology to keep me on the right track. Each phase is 5
weeks long, 5 days a week doing a double workout on Fridays, each Saturday you
record your stats and Sunday is for stretching. There is a modifier at each phase so
if you can’t jump because of knee or ankle problems (like me), you don’t have
to but you still get an amazing workout. With my workouts usually I burn around
275-350 calories per 29 minutes workout, which includes the 3 minutes cool
down.

So far I’ve lost 15 of the 17 lbs that I’ve gained back, all with
finishing Alpha, and just completing Beta. I also re-started my 5K training to
help me get my running back on track. I’ve changed more of my habits since I
restarted in January; which includes NO alcohol, junk food, fast food, &
soda. I also have added C4 which is a pre workout powder, and also whey protein
powder to keep me full and for muscle recovery. I’m in a new routine and have stuck
with it, 5 am WAKE UP Monday-Friday, I wake up, drink my C4, change into
workout clothes, and then press play. I usually run 3-4 times a week depending
on what I am doing, running I usually do at night after work it only takes
about 45 minutes. On the weekends I try and get in the 3rd and possible 4th
running day, waking up around 7:30 depending on how late our night went.

Top- L… my boobs don’t shrink… but a L with a flat tummy is a size I’ll take!
The picture on the left is blurry because it’s a picture of a picture from my cousin’s wedding from October 2012. That was when I was at my heaviest at 276 lbs. The picture on the right is from March, I normally don’t take full body selfies, because I dont’ feel like I look good. But when I do have that moment I do feel awesome, I snap a picture :).
If you’ve read ALL that jazz, than you are just awesome. But I do hope that it showed you that it’s possible to lose the weight, whether you want to lose just 15 lbs, 100+ lbs, or 200+ lbs. It doesn’t matter, start somewhere, start small, and start TODAY.
Keep it up girl! It's so hard to get into a healthy eating routine AND working out, it takes such a full over lifestyle switch! I'm trying to get back on my healthy eating kick right now and it is tricky after indulging from November – January! Good work!!
I'm so proud of you for writing this post! You look fabulous and you are doing so awesome! Your dedication and hard work is inspiring! Keep it up!!
You'v done an awesome job! I have looked into the beachbody thing, but I am not able to do high intensity workouts due to a neck problem. Are the shakes only useful if you are doing intense workouts?
Thanks for your transparency! Keep after it!
You GO GIRL! Thanks for writing such an honest and inspiring post! I've actually thought about getting T25 but was unsure if it would actually "work". It sounds difficult, but it helps to hear that someone is actually seeing results. 🙂
I'm just going to tell you what. You girlfriend, are INSPIRING. T25 is no joke, as you know, so to add all that extra on top… YOU GO GIRL. And you've got this. I think gaining some weight back helps us realize that we have to consistently make the right choices because it's way too easy to fall back into our old habits.
Soo happy to have this to read this morning. You are an inspiration. Thank you.
