It officially feels like Winter, after the blizzard and it being in the negatives, I’m ready for a milder winter. I’m good with temps in the 30s & 40s, not negatives lol. I feel like this winter starting off so extreme has made my skin super dry. Even though I have normal/combination skin it’s been feeling drier than anything else. I’ve noticed that when I do apply foundation I noticed it looked patchy and was sticking to the dry patches, meh. I realized that if my skin isn’t looking and feeling healthy that no amount of makeup can hide that. Which lead me to change my skincare routine, thankfully Neutrogena is doing a Neu Year, New You campaign, and I was able to splurge a little bit and grab a few new skincare and beauty items to last me through the winter!
Skincare: All the Skincare items are from the Neutrogena Hydro Boost line
Gentle Cleansing Lotion $9.27: This I use in the shower, you can use on a dry or wet face and it’s super gentle. It’s made for sensitive skin, fragrance-free and will effectively removes impurities for soft, supple skin. It also contains hyaluronic acid, is paraben-free, and non-comedogenic. I’ve used it for about 2 weeks so far and love how my skin feels clean but not drying like my normal cleanser.
Gel-Cream for Extra Dry Skin $16.17: I started using this last summer once or twice a week to balance out all of the cleansers that I was using. A little goes such a long way. I literally dipped my ring finger in once and I got a quarter size amount of product, and it covers my enter face. It also is oil-free, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, and contains hyaluronic acid. (< this is like a theme with the hydro boost line)
Gel Cream- Eyes $14.97: I don’t know why, but my under eyes have been horribly dry and gross. This cream has made my under eyes hydrated and so much less BLAH. It wasn’t even dark circles it was just so dry so my concealer was creasing immediately. It also (told ya it’s a theme with the skincare products) is oil-free, fragrance-free, non-comedogenic, and contains hyaluronic acid.
^ These 3 products I use in the morning and night.
Overnight Gel Mask $2.50: This is good for once a week treatment, it makes your skin feel so hydrated and it really gets to soak up the mask while you sleep. You apply this after your nighttime skincare routine and let the mask soak into your skin, just wash it off in the morning! This mask is non-comedogenic and contains hyaluronic acid.
100% Hydrogel Mask $2.50: Like the overnight mask, I use this once a week, and as I type this post I’m wearing one LOL! It feels so cooling after I remove the mask my skin feels so cool and refreshed (I kept it on for the full 30 mins). I like using this before work, especially if I’m tired the cooling makes me feel more awake. This mask is non-comedogenic and contains hyaluronic acid.
Onto Beauty: There are 3 different lines that I use with the makeup. The Lip Shine & Lip treatment is from the Hydro-Boost line. The Foundation, Blemish Concealer & Mineral Powder are from the SkinClearing line. And the Under-Eye Concealer is from the Healthy Skin line.
Hydrating Lip Shine $8.97: I am in LOVE with the color I got, it’s Velvet Wine (70), and perfect for the winter! I love that this feels like a lip gloss but it’s not sticky, which YES thank you, cause otherwise, my long hair would get stuck. This comes in around 4-6 other shades, there’s a really nice nude pink that would be great for summer. The lip shine contains hyaluronic acid, and lips look & feel hydrated for 24 hours.
Hydrating Lip Treatment $6.74: I use this every day and it travels with me. I started using this over my regular lip balm, I feel like this really keeps my lips hydrated. I don’t feel like my lips are dry and the lip shine and over lipsticks apply so much better.
SkinClearing Foundation Shade- Nude 40 $14.25: I have had this foundation since October, and LOVE it. It’s a light coverage foundation and perfect for everyday use. If I have blemishes that are peeking through the foundation, I’ll cover it with the blemish concealer. I recommend going to Walmart to see if you can grab samples or just grab the 3 closest shades to you and see what matches you exactly. This foundation won’t clog your pores, is hypoallergenic, and rapidly cuts through oil for fast acne relief.
SkinClearing Blemish Concealer Shade- Light $8.97: I pair this with the foundation, or I use this by itself, on any blemishes I have. This conceals, prevents, and treats acne blemishes. It is also non-comedogenic.
SkinClearing Mineral Powder Shade-Nude 40 $11.97: The sponge that comes with this powder is pretty awesome, the Orange side provides sheer coverage, and the white is for fuller coverage. It provides treatment for blemishes with Salicylic acid and helps treat and prevent breakouts. I use this for coverage when I don’t feel like applying the liquid foundation.
Healthy Skin 3-in-1 Concealer for Eyes Shade- Light $8.26: I like that I can use this by itself without it looking obvious that I have concealer on. It corrects dark circles, puffiness and fine lines, the best part? It doesn’t crease on me, even before I set it with powder. It also has broad spectrum SPF 20 and is gentle on sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
This skincare routine has been life-changing, my skin feels hydrated and I no longer get dry patches on my skin. The makeup products have definitely helped the breakouts become less, plus having the blemish concealer to cover the blemishes without making them worse. It’s a win, win!
Plus I made a skincare + beauty tutorial that is live on YouTube! I feel like I’m getting better at talking “to” the camera and even the editing part has become easier. Check it out below or go to my YouTube channel here and check it out and subscribe to my channel!
They have really good products!
I love nutrogena, they make my favorite bath oil, rain bath!
Thank you for the review! I love all of the Neutrogena products I’ve tried. Unfortunately, they’re not always in my budget, but they seem overall good quality.
Neutrogena is my favorite, I want to try the Gel-Cream for Extra Dry Skin especially for now with this cold weather.
