complete the half marathon that I was attempting to train for. I had high hopes
for this half marathon, it is on Long Island, so very little traveling, wasn’t
too expensive, plus the “race bling” was pretty awesome. While
finding my love for weight lifting I lost my love for running, which is
upsetting because I do love the freedom that running gives me. So my reason for
actually doing the 5K instead of the half is because my furthest distance was
only 8 miles, half marathon is 13.1 so that means after 8 miles in probably
about 2 hours… I only would have 1.5 hours to cover 5.1 miles. The half had a
3.5 hour time limit, so I would have to cover 13.1 in 3.5 hours, with walking
it could be done with a 16:00 min/mile pace.
wasn’t going to do a half marathon like I had planned, I set an obtainable goal
for the 5K. I wanted to finish fewer than 45 mins; the better goal was to
finish under 40 mins or just AT 40. Well my official time was 41:51, so it was
definitely UNDER 45 mins, and that is perfectly great for me. I am now training
for a Sub 30 min 5K, I have a 5K coming up in November, it’s called Run for the
Warriors, and it’s the next town over from mine. I am very excited to run this,
it’s a great cause, and it’ll be fun to partake in a great race for the armed
forces.
yesterday), so let’s talk about the rest of the weekend.
I went out for my girlfriend Philisha’s birthday, along with her bf David, and
friends Mels & Jay. We went out to dinner, and to watch the movie
Annabelle, I would rather not talk about the movie. But spending time with my
friends was extremely awesome and fun, dinner was delicious, I had nachos! After
the movie CA and I headed home and passed out immediately, it was like 12:30…
yup TIRED.
soccer game but it was rained out, I headed to the gym somewhat early came
home, picked up breakfast and just relaxed. I asked what we were doing for the
day, we parted ways, and CA came up with the idea to head out to a Casino in
Queens. It’s all computerized, so no actual dealers; we set low budget for
betting money and had a lot of fun. CA won some money back, I lost plenty, and
we left headed back home and then picked up my mum and aunt. We went out to
dinner at Red Robin; I was dying for it so we went there, grabbed some drinks
and had a delicious dinner. CA tried to pay for the bill, I didn’t allow it,
just because I felt like treating him… the poor waiter didn’t know what to
take, the card from him or the book with the cash in it. He chose wisely, and
took the book with the cash in it.
for ice cream for the 4 of us, and of course Baloo (my dog). We vegged out and
went to bed early, since we both had an early wake up (5am), we laid in bed and
watched a movie.
bit) I woke up at 5am, showered changed, taped my ankles, and ate on the way
(CA drove). We arrived early, but got nice parking which was close to the
finish line AND the bathroom (not port-a-potties) <~ if you are a runner you
know this is just great! It was only 45 degrees when we arrived, so at first I
kept my jacket on but about a mile in I took it off, because I was starting to
get hot and couldn’t deal. I was happy, this was the first race that my legs didn’t feel tired at all, and I kept with my intervals, which was 3 mins
running and 2 mins walking. The walking break allowed me to catch my breath and
make sure I was keeping good time, which I was and it was very happy with it.
picked up a boa and tiara to wear through the finish line, and heard that I
wasn’t going to be making the 40 mins goal. I shook it off, and kept pushing
forward, the last corner I saw CA he snapped the picture (below), and then ran
along the side of the fence and cheered me on to the finish. He got another
picture of me going under the finish line, and I received my medal and a
picture with a shirtless fire fighter, a glass of champagne, and a red rose. CA
took some more pictures of me with my goodies, and we headed home. He dropped
me off, I relaxed until 3 ish, and then headed out to pick us up (CA) and me
food, and we watched football, and I planned out my running schedule and
lifting.
are starting a brand new plan tomorrow, and we are switching from She Hulk to
Sexy Sculpt, which is a cutting program. It is 4 days a week, well be lifting 4
days, and adding a HIIT workout each Wednesday, along with kickboxing 2 nights
a week. I will also be running 3 times a week to get my 5K time faster, also
just some fluff runs to fill the void. I start my official (again) half
marathon training; my first real half will be March 21st, in Queens.
will be doing a play by play of how my brain works on my runs… it’s quite
hysterical.
