Is anyone else in denial that it’s already JULY?! It was June… last week I just can’t believe how fast the summer is going again. July is going to be a super busy month, and I feel like we’re going to blink and it’s going to be winter. Which is why I don’t want to complain too much about the heat, cause then it’ll be winter and I’ll be complaining about the cold and snow. But anyway, enough rambling!
What We DId:
CA and I celebrated our SECOND wedding anniversary! Where has time GONE!? Since we did a city trip for CA’s birthday we decided to go out to dinner the weekend before our anniversary. We headed into a popular town on Long Island called Huntington, we went to church, then headed to grab drinks at a wine bar called Osteria Da Nino and then dinner was at Buenos Aires. Oh, my GOSH, the food at Buenos Aires was AH-Mazing, you can either get Tapas or full meals, we went the Tapas route and weren’t disappointed.
This is from Osteria Da Nino, it has wine + beer on tap! I, of course, didn’t have any wine from the tap but it’s a great concept!
The Calamari dish (from Buenos Aires) to compare all future calamari dishes to. We were in heaven, and demolished the entire thing, and couldn’t finish or have dessert LOL.
We celebrated our anniversary on the actual day with my mom and aunt to a place called the Post Office Cafe (amazing food as always), and got a small cake for dessert. My mom’s birthday was only 3 days after our anniversary so we went out for that too, we went to a local place, the burgers are amazing. If you’re local, it was the John Thomas Inn, make your own burger is delicious!
At the Post Office Cafe you can get a flight of beer- which is what CA got.
At the John Thomas Inn, it was Seafood Mac + Cheese, DELICIOUS.
On June 14th, we officially booked our Europe trip for 2019! We are going to France, England & Ireland! We waited for June 14th because while we’re in England we’ll be going to Manchester to see CA’s favorite EPL (English Premier League) team ManCity. They only released their schedule on the 14th, so we had to wait to book everything until we knew when they’d be playing at home. Luckily we were planning around a tentative date and it WORKED! Usually, CA and I travel with cruises but this Europe trip we’re planning ourselves (with the help of our Travel Agent Jim), so we’ve been researching tours for the 3 locations, and any must see from fellow travelers. (If you have any recommendations- let me know!)
That weekend CA and I headed to Connecticut for my friends baby shower!!!! I’ was so excited, to see her and our friends that all live in CT (one lives in Jersey), and after the baby shower, we had a BBQ at one of their houses! It was so much fun to hang out and relax with everyone. We found out when two of our friends are getting married next year, and we can go, YAY! We also saw 4 of the same friends the following weekend, CA went to a Dave Matthews Band concert with 3 of them and myself and the friend from the baby shower hung out at home! It was so nice to relax, talk, eat delicious burritos and have amazing donuts together LOL. I love CA’s (and my) UConn friends, they all have hearts of gold, and have welcomed me with open arms into their group. Seeing them always makes me happy and we always have a great time no matter what. We’re seeing them in September and I already can’t wait!
The last weekend of June we had my biff Caitlin over (she’s the bride that I am the Matron of Honor for), for a casual BBQ, wine, and S’Mores! We also had a birthday party for my friend (like a little sister) Kimmy, it was so much fun, great food, just SO hot! And we saw my BIL/SIL before they went to Ocean City, MD for a week. Our dogs saw each other for the second time and it was quite hilarious, since the last time they saw each other Dak (their dog) was only 5 months old!
House:
No update, again. The garden is HUGE! If you look on my IG Highlights you can see “Garden” and I show you everything. I really need to do an updated one since the tomatoes have literally taken over. Also, Thor has taken to plucking the potatoes out of the garden, so we may need to fence it off.
TV Shows/Movies:
We saw Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom! I was SO excited to see this, I literally bought tickets the DAY they became available, of course, 3D version with reclinable seats. It was amazing, a little different from what I thought would happen (in a good way), and just so incredible to watch!
I have been watching 4 TV shows on Netflix, Highway Thru Hell, Heavy Rescue 401, Nailed It!, and An hour to save your life. The Nailed It! Is a baking show, and it’s just so hilarious, it’s basically when amaetuer bakers try to make those hard cakes or cookies. It’s comical and the main host Nicole has a great personality for it! HtH and HR401 are about tow truck drivers all in Canada keeping the highways clear, and it’s opened my eyes to how quickly lake effect snow can turn a city on its side!
Recipes:
I didn’t make anything new this month, it was more the month for, let’s just do chicken cutlets and steak on the grill. But I did make my favorite pasta dish- You Won’t Be Single for Long Vodka Pasta from Rachel Ray! It’s always delicious and this time I actually used vodka, because normally we don’t have any. But we had it and I used it, tasted equally as delicious. I love this dish because it can be doubled for a potluck or any kind of party, plus add in chicken or shrimp and you’ve got extra protein!
Fav Skincare, Makeup + Clothing Purchases :
I have been on the hunt for a new concealer that won’t crease, oxidize or melt off my face in the heat. A few were recommendations, but the two Bare Minerals concealers are my favorites- lightweight but really perfect for my dark circles. Lots of fun new purchases that I was able to grab for the month of June! I am hoping to work on my eyeshadow technique and maybe actually film a video about my everyday makeup!
I think June was the month of sheet masks for me, haha. Also, if you want to try a few sheet masks without spending too much try your local Walmart they have 2 for $5! But I linked a few I’ve tried and a few that I have yet to try and other skincare products I have!
I didn’t buy any clothes….. as I am searching my brain LOL. I did buy shoes from Payless with their BOGO sale, but they didn’t arrive yet. I know the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is coming up which is HUGE so I know that may mean some shopping. But I did most of my shopping in March/April, and I honestly don’t need new clothes. The shoes, however, I am a “heel” Walker, so the heels of all of my shoes wear very quickly, especially with frequent wear. Did you buy any new clothes this summer that’s your favorite so far?!
