Well it’s been a week since CA & I have returned from our vacation, it’s what I’ve come to call our Pre-Wedding Honeymoon. I’ve gotten asked since I’m calling it a “pre” wedding honeymoon, if CA and I are going on an actual honeymoon, we are but I’m just weird and wanted a cool name for our vacation.
Our vacation started 2/28 (Sat) and ended 3/8, it began in San Juan Puerto Rico when we landed at 10:30 Saturday morning. I wrote about our short stay in Puerto Rico on 3/1 while we were still in the port but on the cruise ship. San Juan was lovely, and the hotel we stayed at was the perfect price, and best location for the just under triple digit price.
Now onto the fun stuff!
Sunday-
We checked out of the hotel, grabbed a taxi to the port, dropped off our luggage, got our sail & sign cards, passed security quickly and than officially began our cruise!
We grabbed the drink of the day, went up to deck 10, and relaxed; half way through the day we heard about the steak house offering a free bottle of wine if you dine with them on the first night or the first elegant night.
We went to our room, unpacked, got ready for our lovely steak dinner, it was BEYOND delicious, after dinner we went to the upper decks to watch the ship leave port, and we were officially on our way!
Monday- St. Thomas/St. John
We had our St. John Trunk Bay beach excursion, it was AMAZING, water absolutely the most beautiful shade of tourquise I’ve ever seen. I only wish we were at Trunk Bay longer than 1.5 hours, our trip from St. Thomas over to St. John’s was 40 minutes, the taxi ride from the dock to the bay was another 20 minutes.
Tuesday- Day at Sea
No getting off the ship this day *wink* , CA went up to deck 10 to grab seats, after I woke up, we ate breakfast, and than we just laid on the deck chairs. That was basically our day until about 2:30 ish we decided to go downstairs play BINGO, gamble a bit, than get ready for our first elegant night!
Wednesday- Barbados
Our excursion today was a much shorter trip from the ship to where our speed boat was awaiting our arrival. We left the dock, headed to snorkel with the turtles, and also a ship wreck! Both amazingly awesome and so much fun, the turtles would swim SO close to you it was amazing.
Thursday- St. Lucia
Lucia & Kitts, were last minute excursions planned on the ship, today’s ride was fun, we got a great tour of the island and found out that 85% of the coco that they produce goes to the Hershey Factory in Pennsylvania! We ended up on Pigeon Island beach for about 3.5 hours, we had our own little private area of the beach it was so nice and calm.
Friday- St. Kitts
Kitts was CA’s favorite, he went jet skiing for around 15-20 minutes while I was relaxing on the beach. We had 4.5 hours on the beach, there was a waitress that came around taking drink & food orders. We had fun sitting around and just relaxing, I also got to hold a starfish, pretty cool a little weird though.
Saturday- St. Maarten
This was the best island, the port that you walk through to get to the taxis was SO clean, and ‘american” like, it made me feel a little safer; maybe that’s what I liked about it. We took a taxi to Maho Beach {also known as Airport Beach}, CA stayed right next door so it was nice to see where he went on his “man-cation”. We grabbed 2 chairs, 2 beers and started watching the planes come and take off {which was the much cooler part}.
Sunday- San Juan, PR/Flight Home
At 7 am, we arrived back in port, CA & I had a “faster to the fun” pass which allowed us to get off the ship without waiting forever, and we past customs, got on a large coach bus and headed to the airport. We passed everything, grabbed lunch around 10:30 and than our plane started to board at 11:19 and off we went at 12 noon! We arrived back in NY 30 minutes early, and were on our way home at 4:30, I was dropped off home, unpacked and got ready for work the next day.
I plan on doing a breakdown of which islands were the best, the excursions, on the cruise itself, packing and all of that fun stuff.
