Since it’s winter time I like to make “warm” recipes, soups, stews, chili, anything that will warm the soul.
The original is from an OLD Crock Pot book that usually comes with older crock pots; I swear it’s probably 30 something years old.
Here’s what I use in my recipe; It serves 6 people:
{obviously- adjust according to how many people in your family and/or left over possibilities}
•4 lbs of chop meat
•1 Tablespoons of chopped onions
•5-6 Tablespoons of Chili Powder
•3 14 1/2 ounce cans of diced tomatoes
•3 16 oz cans of kidney beans
•2 teaspoon pepper (I just sprinkled it over a couple times)
•2 teaspoon cumin
•Salt to taste
all of the things I used 🙂
Ready… set…. GO!
*First set up your crock pot and spray the entire pot with Pam
Start browning the chop meat ….
After the chop meat is browned- put Kidney beans in the bottom crock pot
You do this layer by layer
Next you put in the Diced tomatoes….
DRAIN the chop meat and than place it in the crock pot…
Next the chopped onions VERY light sprinkle; I don’t put a lot
(I don’t like too much onion)
Chili Powder.. it may seem like a lot but after everything is done cooking
it’s not too spicy and isn’t “too” much
And lastly cumin 🙂
After you put all ingredients in; stir ONCE.
Than program the crock pot- on High for 5-6 hours and on Low for 10-12 hours.
I stirred it once again before I left for work. and than when I went home at 12. And again at 4:45.
And this is the end result!
This is definitely one of my favorite recipes; and if you don’t have a crock pot and/or don’t want to wait that long? It can be cooked on the stove also, same way, brown the chop meat, and mix everything into a large pot. Put it on a low-medium heat for about 1 to 1.5 hours. It tastes exactly the same either way, just depends if you can’t stay home and be by the stove or not.
i love a good chili!! this looks delicous!
Thank you, it's definitely my favorite! Even if it's not in the crock pot, on the stove tastes exactly the same.
