If you’re new here on the blog, blogging isn’t my full-time job. I work outside my home at an office from 9-5, blogging is my second job, and I’ve added Virtual Assistant to the list of jobs I have. When I first started blogging I never thought it would be a second job, because I never knew the amount of time that goes into running a blog. Luckily after almost 5 years of running Getting Fit Fab, I know what blogging entails and that it’s not as easy as it first seemed; but that’s for another blog post!
I wanted to share a few ways I save myself time with juggling a full-time day job, blogger, VA, as well as time for my husband, family, friends, and you know…myself (#selfcare!).
Get yourself a planner, any planner. Digital, paper, anything. I use the Erin Condren LifePlanner, it truly helps me keep on track, and even if I don’t keep 100% on track, I know what I need to do the next day or week. I also have a notebook for ideas, braindumps, and mapping out blog posts. Usually, I try and have a plan for blog posts, so I keep on track because I tend to get off track quickly. I also have fun decorating my planner pages with fun stickers so it’s not just my scribbled handwriting all over the place.
Editorial calendar- this will help you plan out your month, from appointments, events, date night, to blog posts and more! Seeing how your month is panning out is a great way to stay on track as well as hitting the goals you’ve set. I have an editorial calendar for regular posts and sponsored posts, so I know when to let brands know when a post will be going live and etc. I like seeing my month at a glance, it helps me stick to my schedule.
Social Media Scheduler- This is probably one of the best inventions ever for social media. I use Buffer for Twitter + Facebook, and Tailwind for Pinterest. You can schedule posts however far out you’d like. If you have seasonal related posts you can have them shared 2 times a day, especially since the Twitter feed moves so quickly you can share a few posts on the same day.
Tailwind is a great way to keep your Pinterest filled with content for your followers! I follow a 70% sharing other people’s pins and 30% of my own content. It mixes it together.
The best thing about these social media schedulers is that they do the hard work for me. I just have to write in a caption and it does the rest. I can have a full month scheduled out within a few hours time! This is a total game changer!
Take your vision exam online! I’m serious, if you wear contacts, you know that going in for an eye appointment can take a few hours. Which if you’re a busy woman like myself, you can spend that time elsewhere, whether it’s “me time”, or time with your family! The online vision exam will take you to step by step, you are taking the exam from your computer screen and your phone will give you the prompts on what to do. After taking your exam, you receive your new prescription within 1 business day, how amazing is that?!
I am no stranger to 1-800 Contacts, I’ve been ordering from them for a few years now and love it. I love it even more now that when I need a vision exam I’m able to do it from the comfort of my own home. I can start the exam whenever I want and work through it without leaving my home #winning! This is perfect if you’re a busy mom, working woman, or have a jam-packed school schedule, 1-800 Contacts online vision exam works for your schedule, not the other way around. If you wear dailies as I do, you can have a subscription for your contacts. Where they’ll just automatically send out new contracts according to what you’ve scheduled. Say, every 90 days, or 180, whatever contacts you’re wearing you can do this with. Another added perk, no reason to worry about running out of contacts, ya know like that commercial?
