This past 4th of July, my mom and I had made her famous taco salad, it’s a hit at all of our family parties and the most requested dish we are asked to make. It’s delicious, easy to make, quick prep, also simple enough that most everyone will like it.
Ingredients:
| 3 lbs Ground beef; crumbled |
| 4 tablespoons Taco Mix |
| 2 bags Chopped Lettuce |
| 16 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese; shredded |
| 17 ounces Doritos Bag; 3/4 crumbled 1/4 normal |
| 32 ounces Russian Dressing |
| 1/2 cup Water |
Preparation:
Spray Pam onto a medium skillet and start breaking the ground beef into smaller pieces. The breaking of the beef will help the meat cook quicker and it will be better overall for the salad. Brown the meat until cooked all the way through, drain meat, add in 1/2 cup water and taco seasoning. Mix well, place burner on low, stirring occasionally, after 20 minutes take off burner and let cool to room temperature.
In large bowl place room temperature beef, first start mixing in the two bottles of Russian dressing, than the lettuce and cheese. After the ingredients are mixed completely, add in the crumbled Doritos and stir til blended. Add non crumbled Doritos to the top to “garnish” and you are finished. If you are not leaving for your party right away you can refrigerate the dish, it can be either served cold or room temperature.
Enjoy! You can add in olives, hot sauce anything that could make it more unique to your taste. We love making this for BBQs besides that everyone requests it, but it’s really perfect for the summer. The salad is served either cold or room temperature, so it’s nice and refreshing on a summer day. Let me know if you have any questions or try out my recipe!

My husband would love this recipe. When we eat out at a Mexican restaurant, his preferred dinner entree is nachos! 😉 This looks really easy to make and I bet it’s super tasty with the Doritos chips.

I LOVE taco salad, since I am gluten free it is how I reach my taco quota (this should totally be a thing;p ) I haven’t tried it with doritos before but now I am definitely going to! That so much for sharing!

I enjoy taco salad frequently, maybe too frequently. However, it’s usually dining out. Making it at home would be more cost effective. It might even taste better! I’m going to make this the next time my hubby says he wants Mexican food, which is usually tacos or burritos.
