Now before you think I’m completely NUTS, hear me out. When you are losing weight, on a diet, lifestyle change, or whatever you want to call it, you probably do REAL well during the week. Right? Awesome that’s FIVE days of doing awesome! Whether you hit the gym real hard, went running as per your schedule, ate awesome, or just got your butt moving! Now, starting Friday night, you have happy hour, oh no what do you do? You are on a “diet” (well keep that in quotation marks for now), so you don’t want to BLOW it but eating like a horse, but those nachos… look AWESOME.
It might not even be Friday night happy hour, cause ya know you are broke like I am? It could be a BBQ, heading to the beach, or maybe a wedding? Right, it’s summer there is a TON of BBQs going on, or even just parties to attend. With all of those parties & BBQs, comes food, food that YOU didn’t cook, that you have NO idea how it was cooked or anything. So what do you do? Be good on your “diet” (that’s such an evil word), so you eat salad, a small piece of chicken, some pasta (maybe), and a small piece of bread only if you didn’t get pasta.
So maybe lunch or dinner food isn’t your problem? Maybe you have a sweet tooth like CA does, so dessert would be your problem. Alright, so you did good ALL week, and want to have your dessert that you deserve, AWESOME, but there’s so much to choose from!? So you split the dessert if half with a friend or S/O. Good choice so proud of you!
Maybe nothing I’ve said is your problem, you could do great on weekends, and not have a care at all! For me & CA we have busy weekends, we have parties, baseball games, a wedding, concerts and all that jazz. So for my self it’s hard to keep on track, because sometimes, I do want an extra piece of cake, or maybe another hot dog, some fries at the baseball game.
Don’t get me wrong, MOST weekends I can control it, especially if we don’t have anything major planned. But, I know for some people (or a lot) weekends are VERY hard to stay on track. It’s when most binges HAPPEN, it’s when parties occur, alcohol comes a bigger factor, or you don’t WANT to be good and eat healthy.
You want to know what though? It’s OK! You are human… (I know shocker!), you make mistakes, WHEW, so no harm no foul.
On the weekends CA & I have stuff, I make sure to make the best healthiest choices I can. At the baseball games, I have a hamburger, some fries, and water to drink; sometimes I add in a pretzel that I share with CA. BBQs/Parties, I pick healthier choices to eat and drink water always. It’s easy, I promise♥
It might all sound like a bunch of babbles (it probably IS), but what I am trying to show you, is that it’s OKAY to want that yummy (bad for you) food! It’s okay to HAVE it, but in MODERATION, don’t wolf it down so you can’t enjoy it, if you want a piece of cake, SPLIT it ! Take a smaller piece, so you can enjoy yummy summer foods and feel NO guilt!
I mess up a lot on the weekends but I dont call it that because I choose to. I choose to have fun with my friends and go out to eat and have drinks or whatever. Life is too short to not have a good time bc youre worried about calories. I track calories and make healthy choices all week long. On the weekends I dont really think about it. I dont binge but I dont worry about what I eat or drink or do or dont do either.
That's exactly what I say. I have to make my "diet" something I can live with and if that means giving up everything I love I definitely won't succeed. Make it easy to succeed!!
Love this! I just experienced my first "binge" when I went on vacation and it was so hard to get back on track after that! But you are right, we are only human and we just have to breath! 🙂 And good news is I am doing much better!
