Where are my snackers at? I will admit that one of my major downfalls is snacking, I am an avid snacker. I have a dangerous snacking habit, especially if I am bored. I always bring my snacks to work. I’m usually healthy but sometimes I’ll grab a chocolate bar or greasy chips or something. When I’m home, I’m ready to snack like it’s my job! The plan I follow is macro related, where I have a certain caloric intake of what I am allowed, whether or not I workout. I don’t “eat back” calories I burned, which is good, but it’s the snacking that really hinders my weight loss ability.
I’ve always followed that it doesn’t matter what happens at the gym, or on the track but if you don’t put as much effort into your meals as your workouts, it’s a moot point. You can’t out exercise a bad diet, you just can’t. I know I’m living proof that it just doesn’t work. Since I know what number one enemy to my weight loss is, snacking. I’ve always been a “dangerous” snacker but I’ve recently added a new snack in my life, and boy is it a game changer.
Somersaults Sunflower seeds are a new kind of snack that not only be healthy but also a great on the go snack. When I go to the gym at 5 am I rarely eat, 90% of the time I don’t have anything besides some pre-workout and water. I’m up at 4:15 and usually end up eating breakfast around 7:30, and I realized by that time I’m usually starving. I wanted to add a pre-workout snack but was unsure of what I should add. I don’t like heavy food too early as I’d end up puking at the gym in the middle of my workout if I tried that (TMI, maybe?). Somersaults are made with simple, all natural ingredients. Somersaults contain: 150 calories, 5-6 grams of natural plant-based protein (depends on flavor), 3 grams of fiber, and less than 3 grams of sugar (per serving). Now that I told you all the nutritional goods, lets get down to delicious flavors: Sea Salt, Salt & Pepper (the New Yorker in me wants to pronounce it “Peppa”), Cinnamon, and Dutch Cocoa. Since I’m a chocolate lover (especially at 4:30 a.m.), I love having Dutch Cocoa in my gym bag. It’s the best to eat when I’m getting ready in the morning, taking out Thor, and making up my pre-workout and replenishment drinks. The convenient bag size, as well as the perfect serving size, give me the right amount of energy to push me in my workout.
My second favorite flavor (it’s a close second honestly) is Cinnamon; it’s the right amount of flavor without being overpowering. Sunflower seeds are dense with protein, fiber, vitamin E, and healthy fats! Protein is great, especially for the lower body workouts: squats on squats and dead lifts require an extra push of something and protein is a great way to get me through my workout.
More reasons Somersaults Sunflower seeds are a great addition to my daily snacking while I’m at work are that it’s not messy and is quick when I want a snack and need a healthy option.
