I’ve recently found my drive for weight loss, between lifting and running. Both of those things take concentration, especially the lifting of weights, with dead lifting and squats. Even with running you have to have the right mindset which means nothing else can be on your mind to distract you from the run at hand.
I remember when I first started running and lifting, people told me some days it’s more of a mental battle than a physical battle. I had no idea what they meant by that, but now I know exactly what they meant. Running can play a huge head game, the wind may not be right, your legs can be tried, anything can make the run feel like it’s going to take forever. Those days you just have to push past everything that’s going on in your head and continue to run the amount of time or distance that is required.
