Ah yes, the magical, “OMG he did SO good!” well duh of course he did awesome!!! He’s CA he exhumes awesomeness from all around, and he’s also extremely handsome. Anyways, when people ask me if I had ANY clue that he was going to propose, I usually say “yes, because we picked out the ring together”. Most of the time people say it’s awesome, or it’s followed by a weird face; because I picked out my own ring? Eh no.
I LOVED picking out my own ring, and SO did CA, because it’s a HUGE purchase, and to spend thousands of dollars on a ring that I WON’T LIKE. When we were there, he told me, I can see why you don’t know which ring you’d like, because when we went to Jared’s (cause he went to Jared’s!!!), there were A LOT of rings. It was a little easier because we had gone to two stores already that were like ($10,000 +), and I knew what I liked ON my finger and what I didn’t. We immediately told the worker what I didn’t want, and what I did want, and I found the ring in the case and TADA! (if you want to hear the whole ring story here and then come back and read the rest of this post! go ahead I’ll wait……)
Moving on, I had recently asked CA, if he had ANY regrets about me knowing about the ring? Most couples GO ring shopping together, then the guy goes back by himself and says my girlfriend like THIS ring the most, can I get it for her? Therefore, the girl will get the ring she likes most, in HER size, and will be surprised! CA didn’t have that, and he told me that he was okay with that, because he STILL surprised me with his proposal, and also the announcement party. He also said that he was happy cause I LOVED the ring ( on a scale from 1-10… I said 21) and it was what I wanted and ALSO in price range (which included the wedding band).
Probably the BEST part about picking my ring, is that when he actually proposed (read that awesome story here {grab some tissues!}) to me I didn’t look at the ring box because I knew what it looked like already, I was able to concentrate on what he was saying to me. Even though I did concentrate… I couldn’t honestly tell you everything he said to me because I was busy crying LOL. The second best part, is that it’s unique, it’s not run of the mill ring that every other girl is going to have, because that’s just not who I am. I regret nothing… NOTHING! {movie reference}.
So the million dollar question… did YOU pick out your ring? Or did you just hint at your favorite styles and your man amazingly picked out your favorite one!?
My husband and I went shopping for rings to find out what I liked and didn't like. We went to a family friend's shop so we could get a good deal. I wasn't super impressed with his selections, but was able to give my husband an idea of what I would like. The jeweler was going to market to get some new stuff after we went looking, but I wasn't able to make it back in to see what he came back with. This is so crazy because I wrote about engagement rings today too! Only I wrote about all the ring nightmares I had! My fiance picked out my ring on his own and luckily I loved it (I did give him lots of hints about what I didn't like though so he wasn't flying blind).
I love that you picked your own ring out! I can see where that would be so amazing!
I'm actually SUPER glad that Vinh brought me with him. I thought I wanted simple with plain band & a rock. Well, we ended up with a intricate & unique ring. He ended up buying it after he liked the combo we ended up with (I chose the band & he chose the rock). Since it was a custom combo, I didn't see the finished product until he proposed, haha! Still, I love my ring & am glad that he took me with him 😛
I haven't been proposed to yet, but in my last relationship that was very serious…we did go ring shopping together. And it was a disaster. We argued the whole time. So I think I like the idea of picking out my own ring but that wasn't a good situation.
